3 hour course: All materials and sewing machine provided. Fancy learning to sew, but don't know where to start? Or maybe you are returning to sewing and need to get to grips with the basics again? This course is designed for the absolute beginner or anyone lacking confidence in the basic operations of the sewing machine. This session will demystify the workings of a sewing machine, enabling you to sit and stitch with confidence. I will show you how to set up the machine to get started, which settings to choose for common sewing tasks and how to select which needles and thread are most appropriate for your task. We will learn how to sew in a straight line, and how to turn a corner. Finally we will complete a project, putting our newly learned skills straight into practice. This is an ideal class to take before attending our Sewing for Beginners course, which will build on the skills you have learned in this session by completing a range of exciting projects. By the time you have completed the course you will be able to: wind a bobbin and thread the machine ready for sewing. stitch in a straight line and around corners. Select the correct settings on your machine know how to sew safely. Choose appropriate needles and thread for your project. Make a tote bag! I try very hard not to cancel sessions, but it is occasionally unavoidable. Should this occur you will be offered the choice of a place in a later course or a refund for the missed session. Fees are otherwise non refundable.
